Loyal Watcher

We stayed over in Downies last night and set off at 4am to steam back east to Rathlin. The water at least looks blue-ish in the east.

We had a dive on the wreck of the Lochgarry this morning, surfacing into sea mist, which gave a moody feel to the day. The Lochgarry was a Scottish ferry, pressed into service as a troop ship during WWII. She was sunk in a ferocious storm on 21st January, 1942.

This afternoon we did the wreck of HMS Drake - a 14,100-ton armoured cruiser, built in 1902. She was sunk off Rathlin Islancd by a German U-boat in October 1916.

This is our dive boat, Loyal Watcher, coming to pick us up after diving the Lochgarry.
