Life though my lens

Wellington, New Zealand

Today we spent the day exploring Wellington, New Zealand's Capital. We started our day by heading to Weta Cave Workshop where they made all of the props and visual effects for the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, along with films like Avatar, TinTin, Ironman, Avengers, King Kong, How to Train Your Dragon, District 9, Halo and Planet of the Apes. We took a tour which walked us through the workshop where they had a huge collection of the props and craftsmen working on their newest projects. We saw Sauron, hobbit feet, elven bows, sting, orcs and goblins along with a lot of prosthetics. It was a great experience and one I didn't want to leave as there was so much to look at.

After the workshop we headed into the centre where we explored Te Papa, New Zealand's National Museum which had a great Maori exhibit. The museum also holds the biggest recorded giant squid and the worlds largest ammonite. We took a short cable car up to the hills surrounding the city at the top of the botanical garden and then walked back down to the city through the gardens.
