Experimentation

White on white:   Above is my version tweaked in Lightroom.  In the extras are the auto version, my version, same with -0.67 exposure compensation, same with +0.67. and at the front the four together !

Result - I think the camera did a rather good job!  I noticed that the camera and I chose different metering modes.  Each time I focused on the kink shown in the thumbnail.
