Black sheep

Another cold and frosty day, though more 'hard as iron' than stunningly sparkling. After a morning of entering botanical records I was ready to stretch my legs, so Chris and I headed over to Ring Haw for a walk. There was thick ice on the puddles, but there was very little wildlife to be seen. We spent a while watching a mixed flock of sheep and cattle grazing the Calcining Banks. A fair few of the sheep were Hebrideans (like this one) and Manx Loughtan, but there was also a surprisingly friendly Herdwick (possibly hand-reared) and the ugliest ram I've ever seen.
