Lietzensee Frozen & Beautiful .

Lietzensee is an inner city See in Charlottenburg /Wilmersdorf. It has a wonderful history well worth looking up .The water is 3 to 4 metres deep and covers an area of 6.5 hectare .The stunning park around the See is another 10 hectare . The Neue Kant Straße  crosses over the water .Once one is in the park the quiet is  astonishing .A protected area, there are now plans to reopen a new cafe ( Germans and food go together ) Today the ice was thick but not enough for safe skating. If this  weather continues it will be. Sledges were being enjoyed on the park banks .Joggers ignored the snow and were busy doing their thing .Cyclists too. I did the rounds and went under the road to the Northern side . Sheer beauty .However even though I wore good gloves the cold proved agony so off I went to the Piano Cafe for a Glühwein .Dual purpose . Hand warmer plus a seasonal drink .In summer the same park will have sunbathers , boats , and the new cafe .Today the weather had not stopped people going out .Good to see. As I left, an art work of  two seals , caught my eye .Even they looked very chilly !  This beauty spot is but 1.2 km from my flat .
