Tiki

Tiki – a New Zealand Maori traditional carved wooden figure, I think this one has feminine Moko.  Men's Moko covered more of the face and often all of it.  If the thought of tattoos makes you wince, consider that traditionally Moko was carved with chisels which left the skin with grooves!
and it was not just a facial thing..
