Life on the loch

What a driech day .... smirry rain that soaks you right through, flat grey sky and grey, watery, ice covered loch.  Most normal folk would stay home with a coffee and a good book but I would never class myself as normal ( even just now I am sitting on my heels on the floor instead of sitting on chair!).

The walk round the loch was not particularly pleasant .... very moist and misty .... not good conditions for photography, or the camera!  No sign of the geese, the swans were acting as ice breakers as they forced their way through the thinning ice in search of food.  There were areas of open water but the swans couldn't reach them .... they need a good runway to get up to speed and take off .... not possible this morning but perhaps by now (3pm) the thaw has been sufficient.

This gull had found his quiet spot where there was no ice but remnants of snow were still covering the rocks.
