Hopeton01 - Lumiere London #2

Another from the Kings Cross site of London Lumiere; this piece is called Identified Flying Object (info here: http://www.visitlondon.com/lumiere/programme/kings-cross/lumiere-artist-jacques-rival)

En route, a rather dour newspaper vendor commented to me that the huge crowds necessitated the closing of Piccadilly Circus Station and that  'they should have had London Lumiere in an open space like Hyde Park'.

Well, yes, it was crowded but part of the joy iof the event was seeing the creative way that each installation exploited the peculiar features of each specific location. eg the 'bird boxes in 'Sanctuary' (Mayfair) was like being on an exclusive rooftop garden  surrounded by a choir of  chirping birds. The very intimacy of the setting is what made it work - a vast open space like Hyde Park would never have done it justice (info here: http://www.visitlondon.com/lumiere/programme/mayfair/lumiere-artist-sarah-blood)

My extra Blip is 'Les Lumineoles' (overhead floating fish sited at Piccadilly.) Info here:  http://www.visitlondon.com/lumiere/programme/piccadilly-regent-street-and-st-james/lumiere-artist-porte-par-le-vent
