Unter Der Linde
You may have heard of the street called Unter Den Linden in Berlin. The reason my title is different is because this is singular and the street in Berlin is plural.
Big day out today. We met up with relatives of G today who are visiting Germany for the Rheingau Musik Festival. They come from Devon and so we had a day where the lingua franca was English. Not so normal.
We were lucky - the weather was fantastic all day. We had a good look round at Kloster Eberbach, wine was tried (the really good German wine never makes it out of Germany) and we chatted. Went back to the City Of Bears for Kaffee & Kuchen and more catching up with family history.
Afterwards we went down into the village where they were having their first Unter Der Linde Tanz. The tradition in Germany is to dance under the lime tree and last year they decided that because their Lime tree was now a good size it would be good to build a traditional stage under it. Here you see what they have built. Great atmosphere with lots of people out on the street.
Aan after that we went off to have dinner down by the Rhein, where we chatted and chatted until it looked like the waiter was going to cry because he wanted to go home.
Good people, good chat, good food and wine - all went to make a first class day out. Enjoyed that a lot.
