Ayutthaya

Ayutthaya was the capital of Siam and possibly the largest city in the world at the time, until it was destroyed by invaders in 1767 and the capital was relocated to Bangkok. It is well worth a day trip from Bangkok to go see the ruins and the countless headless Buddha statues.
