Icescape

It was a miserable morning, cold with some drizzle, but I was determined to get outside, so I went for a walk round Strathclyde Loch. The Bothwell end of the loch had been frozen and was starting to melt, leaving a lovely somewhat alien icescape.
I took photos of the water birds too - in addition to the usual mallards, swans and greylag geese, I spotted loads of coots, tufted ducks and a couple of golden eyes. I also saw a bird of prey land on a tree near the Motherwell end, which I later identified from a magnified photo as a hen harrier. First time I've seen one of them. So a good day at the loch!
