May Day

Another old photograph from my parents' house. I believe this was taken in Liskeard in the late 1880s. It shows a gathering under a traditional Cornish decoration (I think these arches are made of young sycamore branches) for the celebration of May Day.  I don't know how many of these people I'm related to other than the lady on the left hand side who was my great grandmother Lucy. Some interesting characters and tremendous whiskers on display. I wonder who the man in the uniform on the left worked for - perhaps a telegraph office? And is that an early photo bombing by the young lad on the far right?
