Chasing the moment...

It's yonks since I posted an image of a garden bird and what got me going today was looking out of the kitchen to see a Greater Spotted Woodpecker sitting on one of our trees near to the bird feeder in a nice patch of sun. Inevitably by the time I had fetched my camera and put a telephoto lens on it, the moment had gone. The woodpecker was on the bird feeder and the sunlight had disappeared. Still I persevered and though the bird was actually perched behind the bird feeder I did get this shot when he craned his head round to get hold of a particularly tasty morsel at the front of the feeder. It almost looks as though she is cuddling up to the feeder
