Cork Oaks

Today the kids and I came across a plantation of cork oaks near Yarramundi Reach and opposite the Arboretum. The kids thought the little forest looked like Narnia. The cycling/walking path there is excellent (see extra).

We walked to the zoo and back and stopped to talk with the contractors responsible for blackberry and weed spraying. They helped us identify safe blackberry bushes so next week we will return with a container. The ones we tasted today were a bit sour. After the ease of grabbing handfuls of mulberries, prickly vines that scratch one's skin and catch one's clothing will be a frustration. When the fruit is sweet it will be worth it.
