Avon Aqueduct

The tallest (86 feet) and longest (810 feet) aqueduct in Scotland carries the Union Canal over the River Avon near Linlithgow. It opened in 1822. The Avon is pronounced with a soft 'a' unlike the hard English 'Ae-von'. I was glad not to be working today. Cameraman and I went to Muiravonside Country Park which was a delight. A bonus was to be able to climb up to the canal and walk over the aqueduct.

Had a wonderful Sunday night. Met one of my MK colleagues who has been up for Celtic Connections then after something to eat, drink and a good catch up about various work and non- work related issues. we were off to the Piping Centre. The warm-up, Solasta, were good but Anna Massie and Mairearad Green were outstanding. Go and see them if you can - they're warm, funny and fantastic musicians.

Haggis and cranachan tonight in honour of the Bard. First time ever there have been daffodils flowering in the garden for Burns Night. Extraordinary.
