King's Cross

We left Edinburgh this morning with mixed emotions--sad to say good bye to our dear friends and the city we have come to love, but looking forward to a little California sunshine and to seeing our dog, Ozzie.

Because of heavy flooding around Durham and Darlington one London bound train was cancelled and ours was packed. Our "quiet" car was anything but--screaming babies, a couple returning to Durham from T in the Park who spilled mounds of muddy boots and clothing from a black plastic garbage bag as they left the train, people and luggage standing in the vestibule.

I took this picture on the run as we dashed to the taxi stand. Not that it was necessary to dash, but had I paused long enough to compose a better picture, my husband might have disappeared from sight! I managed to keep up and we got in the taxi just in time to hear Andy Murray lose to Federer at Wimbledon. As we say in San Francisco--"wait 'till next year....."
