Hunting Season Opened

Officially around here in the Catskills we are enjoying the "January thaw" when we get a break from winter snow and storms (this is not what the coast got). We have about 6 inches of snow or less scattered about now.
And there was Gracie T-t  sitting out on the boards of a raised bed waiting and watching for hours. She then delivered this fine fat vole-- the first of the season!
And the first she has dispatched all by herself.
Last year she found them but her Uncle Buddy (may he rest in peace) went in for the kill to show her how.
And here the slightly mangled but bloodless vole lies right on the front doormat.

Sorry for the blurred quality but I was holding the door open and keeping the curious kitten inside while preventing Gracie T-t from bringing her prize inside. the body is about 4 inches long.
