Endlessly fascinating

These very tiny native bees (Halictid spp) have a concave tummy, and what she is doing here is scraping the pollen off the stamen directly onto her tummy ready to carry it back to her burrow. 

They move with the speed of light!  When you look at them closely (and I have to say this really isn't close enough - I was pressed for time) they are really beautiful.

Prettier in large.
