The high road

The Gap of Dunloe

Misty, murky day, too much so to climb any big mountains. So we went through the gap of Dunloe into the Black Valley, the scenery was stunning and all the more atmospheric for the mist. Then onto the coast at Derrynane, with it's big horseshoe beach of white sand and many rocky outcrops and small islands. It was a lovely walk along the beach and around Abbey Island, with views of the rugged coastline and Valencia Island ( of the shipping forecast fame ).
