Going with the Floe

I'm always surprised at the speed at which the ice melts on the river.  Temperatures went up to around 2C today and consequently the ice has mostly disappeared or will certainly be gone by tomorrow.  Compare today's blip to Wednesday's ice cutter and Sunday's extreme blip.  (today's second blip is a more accurate comparison to Wednesday's view)

Some interesting trivia:  the word floe, which describes the 'floating ice formed in a large sheet on the surface of a body of water', originates "probably" from Norwegian word flo meaning 'flat layer'.
