Crabbing

After recently watching a family catch loads of paddle crabs from the local beach, my uncle asked them their method and copied it. We attached some tangled netting to the end of some line, along with a weight and put some fish in the middle of the net. We then cast it out and waiting for a minute for the crabs to get caught up in the tangled netting while trying to get the bait.

It was very successful and we actually didn't need to cast out the line, we could just walk out until we were waist-deep and drop in the net near our feet, there were just so many crabs. We only kept the biggest ones.

I made an Asian-style marinade and we cooked them on the barbecue for a delicious crab feast!

After dinner I drove Max and Felix back down to Auckland.
