Mekong Delta Tour

Yesterday we left on another tour, heading south of HCMC to the river region of the Mekong Delta. Over the two days we travelled in several boats on the dirty and brown river. We visited islands to see rice paper rolls being made, a coconut candy factory and tasted the regions' fresh fruit. The best part was visiting a floating market which was 30 plus boats from all over the region sitting in one area of the river. These boats buy direct from farmers and then sit in the river and sell the fresh fruit and veggies to the locals. The little locals come up in their small motor boats and park next to the big boats. They sell between 10-20kg of one item to the locals, who load it up in their little boats until they are almost sinking and take it back to town to sell it in their restaurants and shops. We saw boats overflowing with 1000's of pineapples, potatoes and mangos. These people live very simple lives, making their living off the land and river.
