Pillars in the Sun

Just had a fun Facetime with youngest daughters and friends, which has cheered us greatly.

Plus, went out for the day today - to Évora, capital of the Alentejo, and a place that already has lots of good memories for us. We walked all the way round the city walls, ate lots of good food, and talked lots, plus the sun was shining and, as long as we were in it, felt warm.

I love the way the Portuguese present you with a plate of vegetables as though it was the best thing imaginable, which of course it is. For lunch, we had plates of mushrooms, asparagus, little green peppers, and a salad - with lots of olive oil and garlic, of course, and the Alentejano bread, which we love.

Very grateful for the other daughter, doing so much for us in Sutton, like showing folk round our house, who need somewhere to stay for a while. Thanks, mishkid !
