U-Bahn München: 67/100 Obersendling

Munich underground: 67/100 Obersendling

On it goes in my alphabetical Munich underground series. Next stop: Obersendling underground station. The station is located along the souther U3 line and was opened in October 1989, together with almost the entire southern branch of the orange line. The similarities in the design of these stations are rather striking: where possible, the bored pile walls from the construction were kept visible (see Machtlfinger Straße and Basler Straße stations) and were merely painted (here auburn). The baldachin-like ceiling was realised at Brudermühlstraße and Forstenrieder Allee as well.

At Obersendling underground station you can officially change to the S-Bahn stop at Siemenswerke, although this station is a 400 metres walk to the south (which is otherwise absolutely unheard of in Munich's public transportation network).

Coming from the east side, you can reach the platform without using stairs or elevators, but by walking down two long ramps (which I'm sure will make for some nice blips in the future).
