Old Sluice Gate, Alva Glen

Another rather damp afternoon walk up Alva Glen which has featured in previous blips. A reasonable amount of water in the burn today and the falls were quite impressive. The burn used to provide the public water supply to Alva and may still do so . This old sluice gate was obviously part of those water works.
The water would also have been a vital ingredient of the beer brewed in this area in the past.
