Jennie Lee

After a morning of doing various chores plus pre-Senate meetings, Senate itself was long and somewhat fractious. Some contentious issues didn't come up for discussion until quite late, by which time members were starting to leave due to child-care issues, etc. Still, we managed to pass an amendment suggested by BQ, rather to our surprise. Senior management appeared irritated by it, so I was glad that I had been able to vote for it as my last act on Senate.

When we emerged I was struck by the silhouette of the mulberry tree against the illuminated Jennie Lee Building. What would Jennie Lee have made of it all, I wondered?
