Northern lights?!

Well not quite what i expected on an early morning school run at 8.10am but we have Belfast's own take on the northern lights....I thought it was pretty anyway, just as the sky was changing from a dark gloomy morning and sun started to appear. For a moment I forgot I was even in the city!!

***UPDATE****
So discovered later in the day as photos were sent in to BBC that this extraordinary display I seen this morning was known Nacreous clouds, also known as polar stratospheric clouds, form below -78 C, and so are most likely to occur during the polar winter.

Largely appeared over Scotland and Northern Ireland
