A concrete love affair

Today's reading

I spent the morning reading more on my chosen subject of Perth, Dundee and the Tayside region.

The Scottish Townscape by Colin McWilliam a masterclass in how to decode the urban patchwork. Weaving some beautifully thoughtful insights between the roads bridges and buildings that constitute a settlement. Particularly loved "The prospect and the panorama"  chapter and a poetic section on how Dundee "provides one of the most impressive of all urban views. A vast hillside sprawl of docks, town hall, steeples, mills and mansions, tenements and tower blocks, it rushes from the other end of the Tay bridge; the bare summit of the Law emerging, with a diminutive town-mark at the very top" .

After this reading. I had on my to-do list going through an old box of photographs. Ive tried many times to go through it, and begin sort and filing etc. But again found all to hard to get very far into. Many good memories contained, but all to many framed by a precept of sadness. Ive now put at the back of the cupboard once again...
