Mevagissey Hoss

Visited this ancestral home overlooking Mevagissey Harbour. "The Hoss" is perched on the hillside, very narrow and is set amidst the higgledy-piggledy Cornish fishermen's cottages. The accommodation was upstairs with a pilchard cellar below. Esther Cloke, my great great grandmother on my dad's side. She was born 1832, married Francis and had 7 children. She brought her family up in this house and ran the family fishing boat and pilchard preserving business after the death of her husband. she died in c1920 and buried in the Methodist Chapel graveyard in the town, having been a lifelong member there.
