Derelict Dumbarton Distillery

The red brick Ballantine's grain distillery used to dominate Dumbarton's skyline.
Built in 1938, it made the town a major centre of the whisky industry for most of the century. After a few takeovers starting in the late Eighties the site was mothballed in 2002 and earmarked for demolition and redevelopment.
Only the tower has remained standing since 2008 - several plans have been proposed, planning declined and appealed; it remains to be seen how/if/when the site is fully redeveloped.
