Chesterton Hall, Cambridge.

This large house was built by Thomas Hobson, of Hobson's Choice fame and he lived there from1627 until his death in 1631. His livery stables were in Trumpington street (building still there) and he offered customers the choice of either taking the horse in the stall nearest the door or taking none at all. It prevented the best horses always being chosen and overused. He also built a House of Correction in the town centre for 'stubborn rogues and beggars' which is no longer standing. This is another shot taken from the bus as it's at the junction of very busy roads and because of the trees surrounding the house, this was the best view. I know us blippers  do some strange things in order to get a picture but I thought it best not to stand amongst the traffic ! The city council now own the house and have turned it into flats.
