Elegant Street Furniture

Harrogate has some quite elegant Victorian style street lamps. I often find elegant street furniture such as this can make a nice addition to any street photo. Some of those in the town are quite old, and recently the council has been removing them and replacing them with modern utilitarian designs which lack character - see the extra. The reason given was that they are corroded and a safety hazard, and the cost of repairing them is prohibitive.
Campaigners were outraged, and fortunately, it now appears those around the famous Stray area will be replaced with modern 'reproductions' of their Victorian forerunners.
Hopefully more funds will be found to replace those ghastly new ones with these too.
