Scherzo With X-Wings.

Richard Kaufman conducts the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in a concert at the Usher Hall devoted to a composer whose fifty Academy Award nominations reflects a great career spanning generations, scoring the soundtracks to some of the greatest motion pictures of modern times: a tribute to The Music Of John Williams.

Kaufman, who himself as performed on six of Williams' scores including Close Encounters of a The Third Kind, presented a selection, illustrated with personal anecdotes, of music gleaned from Schindler's List, the original Star Wars Trilogy, Raiders of The Lost Ark, Jurassic Park, The Terminal amongst others, before ending the programme with an exclusive encore of two pieces from the soundtrack to Star Wars: The Force Awakens - possibly the first time that any music from the film has been performed in public.
