Birthday breakfast

This morning my friends, June and Laurie, had a breakfast party for a few friends to celebrate their daughter, Dawn's, 50th birthday. Dawn lives with her husband and two sons in Perth, Australia.

There were 8 of us round the table. We had fruit salad, followed by bacon rolls, tea and coffee, after which scones and shortbread were produced with more tea/coffee, and then this beautiful birthday cake filled with strawberries and cream appeared, complete with sparkler! And, of course, champagne!

At 11 o'clock, by prior arrangement, a phone-call to Dawn (at her own party in Perth) was made and we all sang Happy Birthday to her!

The lady in the photo is Ailsa Stirling, who for many years was the (only) teacher at Croftamie Primary School - a much loved and respected stalwart of the community.
