Devoted service

Sometimes, we find ourselves out of our comfort zone and have to gather all our strength to carry on.
This lady, for whom I have a growing fondness, was on the reading roster this morning.
She had practiced the passage at home and was ready.
A few sentences into the reading, I noticed that her hands were shaking badly. Her voice had a slight quiver, but she took her time and reached the end in such a way that most folk would never have known the bravery and fortitude in character that was displayed.
