Invermallie Bothy

It was a dreadful day of near continuous heavy rain but Caley still needs his walk. Since we haven't been for a while we ventured along the south side of Loch Arkaig to this well maintained and popular bothy. A bothy offers basic but free shelter for those taking to the wilderness. The intention is that you should always leave it clean and tidy with consideration to the next visitors.
Before its current bothy status the building was likely the home for an estate worker, perhaps a game keeper, stalker or shepherd. Sadly this cottage has been known to flood and the river adjacent looked alarmingly high today. Mrs SJR has been here before but she has not got the "Bothy Bug" yet; "roughing it" means not having room service.
The track to the bothy was flooded in places and burns spill across in crude fords which themselves presented quite an obstacle on a day like this. Mrs SJR over topped her boots

Extras give a feel for the precipitation.
