masp

on day 2 in sao paulo we visited masp - the sao paulo museum of art - which has the largest collection of european art on the continent.

this exhibition displayed 200 works dating from 4000 bc to 2014 in chronological order, in one room, on crystal easels. I don't remember the last time I was so moved and overawed by an exhibition. the effect of the display was extraordinary - like journeying through the history of european art. we truly felt in the presence of genius in that room.

we finished our day in sampa with the finest japanese food we've ever had. we asked japanese friends for a recommendation, and they told us about an unmarked, bamboo door down an alleyway. we were served a seven course tasting menu, prepared in front of our eyes. today was an absolute treat.
