You say Viva, I say ...

The last car to be designed in house by Vauxhall - everything that came later was either a re-badged Opel or, in the case of the Monaro, a Holden. This is the HC model (1970 - 1979) and I remember my parents having one for a while before it got replaced by a VW Jetta.

Just spent a pleasing 20 minutes or so reading about the variations (van, shooting brake*) on Wikipedia where I also learned it's sole reference in popular culture is by Elvis Costello in "The Beat" - http://youtu.be/j9opE_1Y-RI (1:16).

* Whatever happened to shooting brakes? There used to be a really cool XJS based one. Ah, well.
