This the window of the museum where the Stockport air raid shelters are. The labyrinth of tunnels under part of the town centre was dug into the sandstone. It was extended to accommodate as many as 6500 people. The beds, hospital room, toilets etc are still down there. We've taken most of the grandchildren at one time or another. Of course the kids find the old fashioned toilet facilities the most fascinating thing :-)
