Apoala

Some people hiked up a canyon in back of the village, but since I had been there before I chose to walk up the road to take photos of the unique location of Apoala. 
The village is built on a "hanging valley". It is surrounded by mountains, and at the back is a slot canyon with a river running through it. You can see by the line of trees where the river continues on across this valley and plunges over the edge of the cliff, forming the cascadas of yesterday's photo, and flowing through yet another valley far below.
