"Wait an hour or so before eating..."

Sound advice, Mrs Dentist. We want the replacement filling to set properly. It's also nigh-on impossible to even consider eating when you can't feel the left-hand side of your tongue and most of your lips; you'd probably chew your cheek off without noticing. Tooth-throb over the past few days has resulted in a spanking fresh newfilling (which will hopefully last even though it was mixed by an apparent trainee dental nurse who didn't know the correct consistency) and a new appointment for a couple of weeks time to either a: sand the top off the filling if the throb stays away or b: excavate. Anyway, I managed to eat a roll over the course of fifteen minutes a couple of hours later despite the continuing return of sensory feedback.

McEwan Hall's sunlit doors (asymmetrical version rather than this or this) beats the suspicious lurking pigeon waiting menacingly on the lamppost in Hardwell Close for me this morning. It was obviously up to something rather than merely sitting there enjoying the morning sun as it didn't budge an inch when I undid the velcro on my camera bag.

Hooray for the Vernal Equinox. It might be near-freezing but it's sunny in the morning and photo-friendly all the way to work. The sun is also just about getting up to a decent angle at noon. Other people apart from me are ditching their big woolly scarves and gloves. Unforunately they're replacing them with fleecy scarves and Thinsulate® glubs. Though some of them are wearing sunglasses too.
