What I see are stems of teeny tiny Brussels sprouts, small enough to serve with a pixie's roast dinner.
Yes, I know they're mahonia buds and when a few more are open there'll be that sweet honey scent that's often accompanied by a bumblebee, but it's far too cold to see bees today and I'm trying to cheer myself up a bit.
