El Camino

By AndrewForbes

One of my clients is a surgeon, and today I had a monthly meeting at the hospital. It's a private hospital specialising in two extremely different fields - oncology and cosmetic surgery.

The gardens are beautiful and the whole place is more like a boutique retreat, caring for an international clientele - those with either healthy bank balances or fit for purpose insurers.

However luxurious it is, at the end of the day it's a hospital and there is happiness and sadness in its plush guest rooms and sunny corridors.

There are patients looking forward with a mix of excitement and fear to a nose job or boob job; or the euphoria of some one just given the all clear following cancer treatment...but sometimes I recognise that look of mustered positivity combined with sadness of visitors coming to see loved ones undergoing cancer treatment.

Hospitals are strange places.

(This little path is the wheel access route through sub tropical gardens).
