Capturing the Everyday

Soweto Cooling Tower Bungie Jump

When I was in Lesotho about 8 years ago I saw a huge reservoir produciing water and electricity but it seemed strange that the local people nearby lived in circular stone huts with straw roofs with no access to water or electricity. Today on the Open Top Bus Tour and combined tour of Soweto I learn that Jo'burg is crazily situated far from the coast and far from any water supply, it grew from the gold mining and actually gets its water from Lesotho!
I also learn that in Soweto they had coal burning towers that produces electricity but most of Soweto had little or no access to electricity. After conflict over the issue they were closed down but the structure kept as a historic reminder and now serves as a place for Bungie jumping!
