Ambrosia

Bee pollen - food of the gods.  It's 40% protein, full of nutrients and (unlike a lot of other stuff which is good for you) tastes delicious.  Honey bees collect pollen from flowers and take it back to their hives where it's rolled into very small balls to feed young bees.  My neighbours have several bee hives and I was given a jar of pollen yesterday - much of it probably came from flowers in my garden. It needs a little drying in the sun to remove any moisture.
NB. Only a small amount of pollen is taken from these hives - the bees have worked hard collecting it and the young bees need it. It might be a different story with commercial apiarists.
