That says it all, really. Today was appalling. The back of the house, which is where I took this photo, was washed with water as if a giant was hosing it down; the borders were flooded and the grass sodden. The strong wind made for the usual drip down inside our back wall and howled disconcertingly in the chimneys, and when we had to go out to choir this evening we were splashing through small lakes where the drains weren't coping.
But tell me: why is it that when it's windy the water level in the lavatory pan moves up and down?
