Hopeton01 - Canal Lock

 Canal locks have fascinated me for years. We use them on canals and rivers that run on differing levels - see  http://https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lock_(water_navigation.)  I've often wondered whether these locks we see so often on English canals are also found in other countries.

I've never seen any in Wales or Scotland, for example.

One of the marvels of Blip is that you can canvas the globe relatively easily - so I'm putting my question out there:
Has anyone seen or used mechanisms like this when boating on waterways anywhere outside of England?
