Execrable Art

The fourth in a long series of days at sea.  At least we were both released from quarantine this morning, and as we joyfully stretched our legs wandering around the ship, I was struck (not for the first time!) by how awful most of the art is.

Here are three of my "favourites" -- from left to right:  What looks to me like the aftermath of a disaster at sea.  Here we see the over-capacity lifeboat, improperly loaded so that the stern is rising up out of the sea, and the bow is sinking down.  I can only imagine that the shadowy, bulky figures in the background are the ghosts of those overweight, overfed passengers who could no longer fit into their life vests, and were barred entry to the tender.  The middle painting appears to portray the dear departed Queen Mum on a bright May morn, out for a ride on her favourite donkey, surrounded by her retinue of dwarves.  The "masterpiece" on the far right seems to be depicting a sufferer from the bacterial infection that has been plaguing this ship.  Here he is, locked up in his cabin, forced to wear what looks like a clumsily wrapped four-day-old salmon on his head.  Perhaps this is the only cure the ship's doctor could come up with after he ran out of his supply of antibiotics?
