Pileated

Pileated Woodpecker at the feeder. I spotted a pair of them this morning, as well as pairs of Downy Woodpeckers and Red-bellied Woodpeckers. The  RBWs seem to be investigating one of the nesting boxes we installed. Fingers crossed! I also 'almost' got a shot of very large Red-shouldered Hawk but Tara barked at it and off it flew! The Sandhill Cranes' Northern Migration is in full swing. Large groups of the are 'kettleing', that's where they fly around and around calling and calling, as they gather their flying mates. Then they fly north. Bye 'Cranes...safe travels and we'll see you next Fall. Here's a really cool link to a motion map showing Bird Migration Routes across the Western Hemisphere. I've watched it over and over, it's fascinating!
