Wivenhoe

It was my second (and last) day staying with my sister and what an absolutely beautiful day it was!  Sunny and blue skies.  We had a trip to Wivenhoe, which was a very attractive little town, just outside Colchester. What a charming place, with quaint little streets, leading down to the waterfront and the boats in the mud, where the tide was out.  We walked along the banks by the river Colne...very peaceful, then back into the village for lunch, then explored a bit more before finishing off with a cream tea in a cafe before we made our way back to the car.

We then drove to Abberton Reservoir on the way back, where we had a walk around and went into the bird hides, though not many birds were out to play.  It was freezing by the water, late in the afternoon, so we took our chilly bodies into the visitor centre for coffee, which had great views looking over the reservoir.

We drove back to my sister's house and unfortunately it was time for me to go home, as back to work on Wednesday, but what a very lovely couple of days I had!
